View Royal Preschool was born from a desire to provide high quality child care in a neighborhood without a preschool. View Royal is an hourglass community nestled between Victoria and the Western Communities. Highway 1A travels quietly through it, towards Victoria.

The View Royal Community Association owns and operates the View Royal Community Hall which was built in 1934. They were undecided what to do with this older building because it was in need of many repairs. The building is two stories, with a large, ground level basement. The community's library was there until June of 1997 before moving to the new municipal hall.

In March of 1997 Heather put in an offer to rent the lower space with the desire to create a preschool, a place for families with young children. The rental conditions were to provide high quality child care at affordable prices for the members of the community. This would also provide an opportunity to upgrade the community hall.

The preschool was created by Heather, her husband Jon and her father, Stan Pike. They worked all summer and with the help of the community Association (who did many renovations to accommodate the preschool) achieved the opening goal of September 1997.

The preschool program is designed to meet the needs of young families. The morning classes accommodate children from 8am to 12pm. The afternoon classes accommodate children from 11:30am to 3:30pm. This allows children, whose parents work, to attend a preschool program. There is also an open door policy that allows parents to visit whenever they like. View Royal Preschool is an inclusive childcare facility which welcomes all children. It offers an allergy friendly environment (peanut/nut-free & scent free).

The preschool has grown from 32 to 80 families since September 1997. There are four classes and a variey of options.
